by spcanoeists on Apr.09, 2012, under Canoe Sprint, Training
Hello Guys and Girls !
Just a little update about what the sprint side has been doing for this 5 out of 6 weeks of holiday trainings.
Hmm…so we have been training every day except for Sunday. During our land trainings, after the gym sessions we will be by the pool doing pool stroking. We brought two K-boats from Kallang to school so that we could practice our strokes and perfect our techniques (: There are some photos below taken during pool paddling!
In a blink of an eye, we have come to the last week of holidays! We all know that we have been training very hard for the past 5 weeks, so hang in there guys! Just endure for another week! (: School will be starting soon and those seniors who went for Internship will be coming back to join us for trainings. Also, new batch of juniors will be coming in to join this big family
Can’t wait for them to join us !!

MR500 2012
by spcanoeists on Mar.29, 2012, under Canoe Sprint, Competitions
Hello everybody!
MR500 ended last sunday ( 25th march) and SPCT did quite well with Shermaine getting 5th position in K1 Tertiary women 500m Grand Finals and Yung Hua getting 4th position in K1 men 500m Grand Finals (: !! As for the rest who didn’t make it to the finals, you guys did great job too! There were many strong competitors such as the canoeists from NUS as a few of them are from the current Canoeing National Team. However, it was definitely a great experience to be able to compete in the same race as them. So after the competition ended, we had the usual Team dinner at Manhattan Fish Market (: !
This coming weekend will be the final 2 days of the SPCPOC 2012. Head down to SP swimming pool to support our team mates if you’re free (: !

Pre-MR500 & SP Canoe Polo Open Champs 2012
by spcanoeists on Mar.24, 2012, under Competitions
Hey guys!
Today is the start of MR500 and also Singapore Polytechnic Canoe Polo Open Championships 2012 ! Both the sprint and polo sides are busy with their own competitions. Terence and Tony had their C2 500m race this afternoon. Supposedly, they won the second position but due to some faults, they got Disqualified… However, congrats to them because they did well (:
On the other side, canoe polo IVP team did well too! I’ve heard that they won their first match. Also, Primera and Mettle also did a great job! A round of applause for everybody (: Wishing them the best of lucks for their following matches!
So tomorrow will be all the kayak races and a few dragonboat ones. All the best to those who are participating !! Stayed tuned for upcoming pictures after the race (:

NATIONAL JUNIOR CANOEING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012
by spcanoeists on Mar.21, 2012, under Canoe Sprint
This event took place over a weekend from 10-11 march 2012. All the 1000m events on the 10th(saturday) while the 500m events on the 11th(sunday). As NJCC has an age limit, only 3 of our juniors (Yung Hua, Benjamin and Shermaine) were able to join. It was really an eye opener because guys/girls from other schools who are younger than them could row as fast as them or even faster!
It was certainly fun to watch all the participants race down the lanes but the weather was a killer. A moment ago, it was sunny. Then it started pouring which delayed some of the events. Some races even continued in the rain. Seniors came down to support them too!! However, this NJCC was just for them to gain some experience and to gauge their standard and most importantly, to have fun (: ! So here are the results:
Shermaine – B-finals (both 1000m and 500m) 3rd
Benjamin – Qualified for both 1000m and 500m semi-finals
So…the next sprint event would be MR500 , held at jurong lake on the 24th and 25th march!
Enjoy the photos (: !!
